Child Dental Benefits Schedule

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a scheme run by Medicare to provide eligible children with basic dental services. The total benefit entitlement is capped at $1026 per child over a two-year calendar period.

Your child might be eligible for CDBS if all the following applies:

  • they're eligible for Medicare
  • they're between 0 and 17 years old for at least one day during the calendar year
  • you or your child get an eligible payment at least once that calendar year

  • X-rays

  • Fillings
  • Root Canal Therapy

Please note that orthodontic and cosmetic dental work is not covered by the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.

Pay nothing on the following preventive services:

  • Your regular dental exam
  • Scale and clean
  • Bitewing x-rays where required
  • Fluoride treatments
  • Mouthguards where required
